Madeleine Pickens to Attend Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board Meeting December 7 in Sparks, Nevada
December 6, 2009 – Businesswoman and philanthropist Madeleine Pickens, wife of legendary businessman and financier T. Boone Pickens, will travel to Sparks, Nevada, on Monday, December 7th to attend the Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board Meeting. She will be available for media interviews.
Mrs. Pickens has advocated a plan by which her Saving America’s Mustangs organization, a private non-profit foundation for the preservation of America’s Wild Horses, will establish a Sanctuary as a permanent home to protect and care for wild horses presently in captivity.
During the meeting, Mrs. Pickens plans to announce a new initiative to call for a moratorium on future gathers until many of the critical management issues facing the Wild Horse and Burro Program are answered by the Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management.
